Leaves are changing up here in the mountains, becoming more vivid each day.

@tampabaytimes.bsky.social iOS story of a bicyclist killed by a DUI driver included this incomprehensibly inappropriate ad in the body of the story.

Setting sun reflected off of cloud to the northeast. Quite a sight.

Morning walks down here rarely yield anything interesting. But when they do, it is usually something in the sky.

Low clouds today envelops the mountain top. Stll lots of moisture but most of the rain is east of us.

Sunset with the sun filtered through several layers of clouds. Sky is slowly clearing up after frontal passage yesterday. Relieved temps have dropped with the front coming through. Both lovely and refreshingly cool.

Happened across this planter box of black-eyed susans in town today. It is in between several paved areas, in another town it may have remained untended and bare. But here it is an occasion to plant flowers. What makes this place special.

On August 3, 1981, two-thirds of all air traffic controllers walked off their jobs. More than 11,000 lost their jobs. It was a day than changed my worklife and that of every other controller regardless of their support or opposition to the strike.

Aleutian Island Police Blotter just updated for a weekend full of bad weather, stuck cars, helpless inebriates and ex-husbands outstaying their welcome. www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

My walk down from the top includes an abandoned road leading toward town where I finish with a post-walk Diet Coke. When the light is just right, I amble into a scene most prosaic.

Near the top of the mountain is a grove of Sycamores. Shaped and twisted over time by wind, rain, cold, snow and, most recently, Tropical Storm Helene, they prevail. Inspiring.

High tension wires notwithstanding, my walk up in the mountain this morning included greeting the sun rising above adjoining mountain ridgeline.

Even the public toilet up here in the mountains is decked out for the July 4th holiday.

Bright blue sky to welcome the 4th of July.

A lovely walk up the mountain early this morning. July 4th so all sorts of weekenders up here for the holiday. But early on it was peaceful with just a breeze for company.

Unalaska, in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, is a transit point for all kinds of people just passing through. It makes for an interesting police blotter reflecting a part of daily life. A new day's worth of entries just posted. www.facebook.com/profile.php?...

The Aleutian Island Police Blotter has been updated. Even in the middle of the work week inebriates are quelled. The police officer's style in her rendition of the blotter is evolving, including a sentence-long attempt at alliteration. www.facebook.com/profile.php?...
