Here is something you don’t know about me I am a witch, gifted with magic and spells not all of which (no pun intended) should ever be cast, without great care I come from a long line of witches dating back to the burning days and through the centuries I have perfected my craft spells of light, spells of dark and spells that are never spoken about those dastardly, wicked incantations that we witches whisper in the dark the fables say that we convene under the light of the moon this is so far away from reality but whatever, human what you don’t know, wont hurt you but I can tell you, we love a good fire and the wonderful scent, of brimstone we love to dance with the Devil whenever he has the chance to play for like him, we can revel in the flames which are literally our creation and walk away without scars unbeknownst to those wicked torturous lunatics self absorbed and uneducated from those terrible times of yore we gather together under cover of darkness to use our gifts for good a concept I suppose that is easily misunderstood if you are an arrogant fool for we of the witches coven chant in the witching hour (as witches do) seeking lost and broken souls whose wishes we might grant for we modern day witches have pure hearts and although you no longer burn us in the flames you now ridicule our craft and the many gifts we possess you endlessly berate, in tones of hate all the things that you never try to understand but that is expected centuries come and centuries go and persecution runs in your veins so go ahead and have your fun but mark my words, we witches will ever be sweeping the sky riding our mythical broomsticks searching for humans and other creatures that need the blessing of our spells and know that your names are already marked ‘destination, Hell’ © Ann Bagnall

Every empty night I undress for no one and when the mirror holds only moonlight and my silhouette I catch a glimpse of something older a challenge to vanity I quietly wonder if the fading roses know they are still beautiful if the stars know they will never lose their audience and I ponder, if the body was ever meant to be a performance © Ann Bagnall
