Gasoline price hit $2.29 today in our town. Wrong on so many levels, but interesting that when I filled up my family's VW bus in 1969 for a date, the cost was about the same in real terms. My question: when do we tumble to the con they are putting over on the REAL cost of oil?

Your moment of New Mexico Zen, courtesy of the Gila National Forest, home of the first designated wilderness in the world, thanks in large part to the problematic Aldo Leopold (another story)...

Anyone objecting to comparisons between the current Trump-commanded crackdown on comedic free speech and the Nazi regime's identical approach need to actually read history. This from the NY Times (available via their archive search):

I thought this was what everyone aspired to.

Guess they showed me, huh.

No doubt others have covered this, but I just found out that on July 23 the official government account of DHS posted this blatantly racist, white supremacist tweet filled with winks and nudges. Where are the calls for investigation? 😱

Great pic, nice bike. KLR? I ride Pueblo, Apache, and Navajo country here in northern NM. Santa Fe also has an old internment camp site; they sent only male "criminals" to that one, so that's something the current GOP copied. "Save your Confederate money, boys, the South shall rise again!" 🙄

It seems so clear. How could so many people get it so wrong?

These are the most frightening words I have ever read from a US President.

The Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM is a popular scuba training spot, but the general public can swim there too. 84 feet deep, and connected to a 200-foot deep aquifer, constantly refreshed.

The latest legal fantasy from the snake oil administration is that it's okay to violate due process if it's too hard to ensure. (No wonder the felon wants to force reputable lawyers to work for him, since all he can get is the dregs of the profession. Their motions will be studied for comedy gold.)
