It's crazy that you assume workers have the power to reject the deadlines that come in from the brass! It also makes no sense to make assumptions about mandatory overtime because game dev "needs a lot of team work".

Crunch has been around A LOT longer than working remotely, and the fact that you assume people are slacking off when they stay home (and that that is enough to make entire projects need massive amounts of overtime) is a clear sign that you're just making this shit up as you go along.

You clearly know nothing about the state of the industry. SHOCKINGLY, big companies employ more people than indies and can provide higher salaries and SOME sense of stability. Indies are struggling for even a tiny bit of funding / an initial lifeline, so workers will naturally have to take AAA.

my view from the outside is that the US *have* experienced more than enough horrors already - especially but not limited to black people + LGBTs - and it's not right to put suffering on a linear scale with change. looking at your own history -- the US *does* have the power to change.
