This is really cool, love seeing different approaches to fast volumetrics.

Any chance of a blog post on this once you figure it all out? Would love to read all the details and see how the technique works end-to-end 🐱

I'll be looking for sets in November! Hit me up w/ details on date/time, event/venue, and genre

Whack-a-mole. Every time yt-dlp patches up one hole, Youtube drops a new a/b test, and fixes might not even work for all users given the a/b nature.

YT in VRChat is on borrowed time, unfortunately, it's at the mercy of YT not breaking yt-dlp entirely, especially bc it needs specific video formats

Custom fit is the way to go if money and time are no object, but it's worth it to try out some cheaper options to see what fits. Etymotics ER-20XS are US$20 and relatively flat.

Also a good idea to put plugs in asap (even before you get in the venue) and keep them in for as much as you can

Especially for QPro, consider a 6" low-profile right angle USB-C extension cable. Hot glue/putty onto HMD to take up strain - it's not to USB spec, but power draw isn't high here.

Velcro tie or ziptie the back end at rear of HMD and connect cable there. Relieves strain and extends HMD life

I was wrong on this, should've checked first. Looks like Discord, at least, doesn't strip the new metadata for VRC photo PNGs, tested w/ www.nayuki.io/page/png-fil...

I'd still consider the VRC metadata existing to be rather low-risk (similar to what's already written to prints), and it has uses

It's metadata that's likely to be stripped when posting to socials, as well, but it seems to be there (and is on by default I think? Not 100% sure) in VRCX, yeah. Worth ensuring it's disabled in VRCX's settings if you don't have a use for it, under Settings -> Pictures -> Screenshot Helper

Looks like the "everyone in the instance" part is the fault of an external app, fwiw. VRC seems to only write photo author ID and world ID

It's worth mentioning that discord, bsky, etc scrub that metadata upon upload, afaik - main exposure vector is directly shared files (gdrive, etc)
