I searched all over the internet today for the story about how the "hopelessly corrupted system for counting election votes" was somehow magically repaired during the last four years, but I came up empty. Seems to working perfectly now. Why, it’s a new year’s miracle!

Oh my God. $9.99 for four pears at Trader Joe’s. Not exactly cheap but worth every penny. The greatest piece of fruit I’ve ever tasted. Impossibly juicy, flavorful and magnificent. Run, don’t walk, while they’re still in stock, (Note: Ray Richmond is not a paid spokesperson for the pear industry.)
