I really can't figure out why Jedi needed to train after about 7 if they've been floating and sabering since like 3. 😄

The upcoming Mando movie...

But I'm not sure if you can do the "Rey/Kylo Skywalker family legacy" stuff and also try to replicate the "tio" concept with Poe, Finn, and Rey.

The OT accomplished it because Kenobi/Yoda were just supporting characters without audience expectations as prior protagonists.

And tros almost couldn't do it because they were limited in what they could do with Leia.

You could imagine a story where as Kylo descends into darkness, Rey becomes more a part of the family he has left...seeing them through her eyes as we hear him rage against them. We get that a bit with Han.

The frustrating part is you can *see* a version of the ST where the story does the work to really earn a "Rey Skywalker".

TFA started it with her relationship with Han.

But then TLJ pivoted away from Luke/Rey to give us more Rey/Kylo (which, while fine...doesn't support the Rey Skywalker thing).

I would not mind.

Since the PT and the "Jedi can't have families" edict we've seen more of the "found family" stuff crop up as a sort of work around.

Funny how the PT basically had neither. 😄 it had coworkers.

I know folks say that star wars has the "found family" theme...but to me that always seemed like a later thing.

The OT ended up being about actual family...the Skywalkers and Han being romantically involved the Leia...so I never felt like the ST was in keeping with the Saga in that regard.

"Star Wars is a story about the Skywalker Family."

...proceeds to kill off the Skywalker family...
December 9, 2025 at 2:45 AM
💯
December 9, 2025 at 2:44 AM
But I think the real issue some have is the idea that the story they told was the destruction of the Skywalker bloodline with the only 3rd Gen Skywalker...Ben...pulling a Vader 2.0 and being killed off.

Throw in Rey as Luke 2.0 after they made him a failure and...well she's gets the "blame"
December 8, 2025 at 11:45 PM
I think the argument is that while Leia was actually raised by the Organa family, Rey had like 36 hrs with Luke and a year with Leia as her teacher not her mom.

Leia was also given the name, she didn't don it herself.

Tony Gilroy and the Andor team proved Star Wars can be serious and quality...and not just stuck in the realm of "Lucas was trying to make his own Buck Rogers" B-movie level schlock.
December 8, 2025 at 4:17 PM
I agree...more time and perhaps even making an ep9 and ep10...if they wanted to try to wrap up the entire 40 year saga and not just the ST.
December 8, 2025 at 4:16 PM
I think the "you are a Palpatine" was their...attempt.
December 8, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Rey could always harbor fear about her lineage as a Palpatine (same as Luke/Vader) and if she can really restart the Jedi.

People...this stuff isn't that hard if you aren't trying to invent some mind blowing "twist" or "subversion".

Just tell a good story.
December 8, 2025 at 3:27 PM
There is 0 reason that Rey can not be the future of Star Wars with an NJO trilogy/new Saga.

We just need a vision and some talent to develop a good arc for her...and honestly they could use the same one Luke had in Thrawn trilogy.

Both sound like never getting to retire 😆
December 4, 2025 at 11:52 PM
We've had Mary Sue. Gary Stu. Now introducing Alien Gru. 😄

Plus "Luke Lars" has that double first letter every superhero alter ego has (Reed Richards, Peter Parker, etc). 👍

How RoS should have ended: "I'm Rey Lars." 😄
