No. 1 fan of Stuart Hardy(aka Stubagful)’s very very good and very underrated anthology podcast series “Abnormal Stories”

he/him/they/them

(aka the second account of @grahamchapmanspipe69.bsky.social)
Yeah I think “The Abandoned Factory“ counts as a rare-ish happy ending lol.

That and “Sunbather” I think too.

-because such things as that are also not seen as “natural“ in the district’s rigid view of “Perfect Love” and by extension “Perfect Families”.

This could also explain why things like adoption or surrogacy (for the couples who can’t conceive children due to many reasons) probably also doesn’t exist in the district-

-because the district‘s rigid and strict view of “Perfect Love” deliberately excludes queer people purely on the basis of queerness “not being natural or ““real”“ love“.

My theory is that either queer people legit don’t exist in this AU, or that queer people *do* exist, but they’re literally sent to the sidelines of society along with the rest of the singletons-

There’s never mentions of queer couples (man love man, woman love woman, etc etc) who are also (by the logic of the very strict hierarchical district) “perfect” for each other.

First of all, in the unspecified district where the episode is set in, that being a specific and limited version of “Perfect Love” where as far as we’re aware, there’s only ever mentions of straight couples (as in man love woman) who are “perfect” for each other.

Anyways, I was thinking a bit more about the episode (more specifically, the lore of ig) and ig in a way I have my own fan theories about it lol.

Cheers Stuart! Glad to hear you love it :D!!

And Tim‘s dad, looking stern and just waiting for to be over and done with. Representing Tim’s complicated relationship with his dad as, whilst Tim tries to get through it with a tiny smile on his face, Tim’s dad‘s demeanor is cold and bitter.

Tim’s mum looking tired and a tad stressed out but still keeping it together somewhat so the whole process goes through smoothly, and to make sure Tim is ok during the whole thing (represented by her having her hand reassuringly on Tim’s shoulder).

The fanart itself is drawn to look like a family portrait of the Shermans.

Tim looking shy and slightly awkward, which makes sense considering he’s a kid and taking family photos will almost always be a piece of work in a way.

-but also because, whenever I listened to the story, I always imagined it would really fit as a stop motion film if it was ever adapted into a visual medium.

Idk, maybe it’s the vibes but that’s how I personally saw it when I made the fanart.

I drew Tim, his mum and his dad inspired by and in the style of children’s horror stop motion films, such as “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993), “Coraline” (2008) and “Frankenweenie” (2012), especially in regards to the large eyes and almost cartoony proportions of the heads and bodies & such-

But anyways, fast forward a few years and a new series of AS comes out (and me resisting to the story for what seems like the millionth time now lol), I felt compelled to redraw Tim from TAC again, this time with his parents (as shown here).

Alas, since I have the memory of a goldfish, I can’t remember where I put my OG lil sketchbook, so the fanart is (as far as I’m aware) lost to time now lol. (But if chance happens and I do find it, I’d deffo show my fanart here fr!)

The fanart in question was of Tim (the main character in the story) looking up at the sinister looking Advent Calendar, itself looking down upon him and symbolising its control over Tim. I made the fanart with a pencil, an ink pen and my lil sketchbook.

I’ve been a fan of ”Abnormal Stories” by the brilliant @stubagful.bsky.social since a few years now, and one of the first fanarts I’ve ever made of the series was of my favourite story of series 2 and one of my faves in the series overall, that being “The Advent Calendar”.
