And could the UK follow suit for Russian assets here ?

I once smiled and said good morning to someone who may have been an immigrant... should I turn myself in now?

We're getting into thought crime territory now.

Yes, but we haven't exactly had a deluge of FDI under the current UK/EU deal which would be desirable under a new agreement.
Not sure how excited the EU would be about a bespoke SMA, might smack of more British exceptionalism.

Dom Perignon?

"Entitled to"

Is that what he thought about the girls too?
December 2, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Really? But that's Brexit all over.

And why would the EU bother with such an uncertain deal. EU (and UK) companies might be reluctant to invest long-term in cross-border trade with the (not so small) possibility that it might be cancelled in 12 months.

I'd say:
"Nah, you're allright, we tried and failed, work it out for yourselves"
alternatively:
"Make sure to levy a tax on meanness and to subsidise kindness".

The Labour 2024 manifesto did.

The rest is just trying to apply sticking plasters to a hemorrhage.

Yes, she did. In her psychotic hallucinations at least.

Agreed but tbf to the UK public, Liz Truss never actually fought or won a GE as Tory leader.
December 1, 2025 at 1:47 PM
It would take a PM like Farage or Jenrick to ally the UK to the EU's enemies in Orbanesque fashion. The idea of Farage simultaneously trying to get the UK back into the EU would be a sick twist but would you put it past the berk?

"the prime minister, whose job it is to shape public opinion, not cower before it"

The best summary of Starmer's premiership.
What was the point of such a large majority if you're not willing to use it to do and say the right things.

If you told me that Zarah Sultana had been paid to destroy the end of Corbyn's political career, I'd say that she'd earned every penny.

Apologies to Layla Moran it may have been Daisy Cooper who said it....Deputy Leader of the LibDems of all people.
November 28, 2025 at 1:19 PM
Nonetheless, and don't get me wrong because I really don't like UK exceptionalism, there would still be a strong net benefit for the rest of Europe if the UK were to return.

I'm hearing the 'mishandled Brexit' too often in the last couple of weeks - it's obviously been pushed by the government spin doctors and it's also contagious as even I think Lit was Layla Moran of the LibDems, of all people, who repeated it on Channel 4 news last night.
I fucking despair.

Brexit wasn't 'mishandled,' this is what it is.

democracies getting closer through shared values, human rights, solidarity and freedom for individuals to live and love without borders. Call me a soppy idealist. 2/2
