Going back to Crash, It's About Time also has better controls, collision, and art style than NST, and despite how I feel about the level design and ridiculous amount of collectables, I can still tell how much love and effort was poured into IAT, while with NST I just...can't.

Say what you want about Spyro Reignited, but Spyro actually feel BETTER to control than before, the collision detection is actually GOOD, the visuals look stunning and clearly have a set style/direction...really, the overall package just feels like a true upgrade.

I'd suggest maybe looking at character art from other classic Namco games that have humans/humanoid characters (Tower of Druaga, Legend of Valkyrie, etc.) for inspiration.
On the other hand, there is that weird human Pac-Man from some baseball game you could also use for inspiration:

Happy 30th anniversary to one of my favorite gaming series, Rayman. Despite its difficulty and design choices, the original game is one I hold near and dear to my heart. Its creative and silly spirit, beautifully drawn graphics, and lovely music drew me in, and I still have fun with it to this day.

Made a few minor tweaks; the original had some glaring issues that really irked me the more I looked back on it, but I think I'm finally satisfied now.

My contribution to @rhyvit.bsky.social's collab, of course I had to take Rayman! I've included a version with accurate colors (middle), and a version that more closely conforms to NES color restrictions (right). Mega Man is included for comparison.

Either pirate adobe products (if you think it's even worth it) or use free alternatives that don't crash every few minutes, utilize AI, or make you pay a monthly subscription. There are PLENTY of alternatives to each Adobe product.
