Besides, a world utterly devoid of change and conflict is boring. Solarpunk will never grow beyond just surface level aesthetic to everyone if it remains focused only on the good things. It should also talk about how to handle the bad things that exist in life, too. That's all from me for now.

Even a solarpunk world will continue to change. People will disagree with how things were and how things can be. There will be clash of values and ideals. Terrible people will still exist even with better education and upbringing. To ignore the shadow the light brings is to ignore the whole picture

And, I think, if solarpunk is to serve as a guide for the future, then it has to acknowledge people can do dumb and shitty things. I'm not saying things have to be pessimistic, but they have to be acknowledged. Conflicts will exist as things change, and time never stops moving forward.

Solarpunk is often seen as a form of utopia, but it's also served as a guiding light, a potential future humanity can strive for. But, like I said, utopias are stagnant, whereas humanity isn't. Any forceful attempt to maintain a version of the world might just tip it over to dystopia

There's a common trend of fictional utopias being secretly dystopias, and I don't think that's a coincidence. At the core of both concepts is "stagnation", or to put it another way, unchanging. Utopias and dystopias have to remain the same forever or else they won't be called that

Oh?? Do tell more! I'm really intrigued

Yes!

I haven't done anything yet, actually! Still reading different books that I think underlies Solarpunk's principles. I want a really good grasp on what can make it tick before writing anything about it

Neato! What stuff have you done in Solarpunk?
December 17, 2024 at 8:15 AM
Ahh, that one! A classic indeed. What have done in the Solarpunk genre?

Oh wow, this is very helpful! Thanks! I tried finding something like this on Google before but didn't spot anything substantial. This is going to help so much!
