And this is why we have to be Gen"AI" skeptics. The needs of society, including safety, have to come before profits,
“Tesla’s driverless ‘robotaxis’ could launch in Austin as soon as June 22. But a demo in Austin today showed a $TSLA, manually driven to test its Full Self-Driving system, failed to stop for a child-sized dummy at a school bus—and hit it.”

Everyone depends on NWS. No matter what terrestrial TV/radio station, "app" or YouTube channel you get your weather forecast from it all starts with NWS and NOAA.

After losing more than 560 employees to layoffs and early retirement incentives earlier this year, the National Weather Service has received permission to hire about 125 new meteorologists and specialists for its forecast offices around the country, sources say, as an active hurricane season looms

The new hires would not make up for all the personnel lost in the Trump administration’s cutbacks, but could reduce the number of offices that need to cut back on 24/7 operations.

Just because something appears to be thinking doesn't mean that it is thinking. This is akin to the 2023 story about "AI" getting into an "argument" with a NYTimes reporter.

Still not AI. We are not there and may never get there. In the end, it is up to use whether we go down this path.

Following copyright law "would kill...the AI industry." That's because fake AI [LLms] needs new data to suggest to users that it is growing an ability to "think." It's not and it won't even if developers are allowed to destroy copyright laws.

Magic trick or simple BS
OpenAI has just released a new AI model that it believes is the future of the technology: a computer program that can reason. Is it a magic trick, a genuine step forward, or both? @matteowong.bsky.social reports: theatln.tc/NtPloyn1

Don’t mess with Ohio State. They will pepper spray a team if they lose to them at home in an embarrassing manner.
