Can we all collectively decide to start putting kangaroo pockets on crew neck sweatshirts? The pocket is about the only advantage hoodies actually have over crew necks, if we’re being honest.

(I might be in my crew neck sweatshirt era)

How many fuckass drive-thru coffee and dirty soda shops does one suburb need? Why to we keep building these things? And I guess I’m the weirdo because I don’t see the appeal.

Recently started teaching my 8 yo how to crochet. It’s amazing how much muscle memory you get from doing a craft for 30 years and countless stitches. I have to stop & think about everything my hands do to maneuver fabric, hold tension, manipulate the work, etc. It just happens automatically for me!🧶

The thing I love most about Reader Mode in Safari is when the website randomly refreshes, loading the regular version of the ad-riddled crafting blog you were trying to read and bouncing you up to the top of the page. 10/10 experience. I love the internet in 2025.

I can’t be the only one that says “fuck” under their breath every time their work phone rings. Literally every time, I can’t help it.

My most Millennial complaint is that still images on Instagram do not need background music that automatically plays. This was the worst part of the MySpace/Xanga/Geocities era, why oh why is it back?

After spending a large chunk of the day prepping and finishing a cloak for a Halloween costume (including satin stitching around large appliqués), my brain at the end of the day is trying to convince me that “I didn’t get anything done today” because I didn’t do any laundry I guess? Stupid brain.

Using #inktober as an excuse to get back into drawing casually. I’ve been out of the habit for years.

In an era of poorly made computer-generated images, it’s a delight to create poorly made human-generated images 😆

When you’re an overconfident quilter trying to speedrun Halloween costumes, you do silly stuff like sew armholes closed, hahaha

I can *almost* excuse tiny pockets on low rise skinny jeans, but still having businesses card-sized pockets on wide leg mom jeans is absolutely unforgivable 😤

I don’t mean to seem unfriendly, I’m just an introvert with low self-esteem. I assume no one actually wants to talk to me or is too busy with their own shit for a little chit chat with someone they don’t know very well.

I don’t think I’ve ever let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding, but it sure happens a lot in books. Only halfway through my current book and it’s already happened twice!

Just when I think I’ve solved all the mysteries/puzzles in Blue Prince, I discover there are more.

Now that the year is half over, I’m checking in with my 2025 reading goals!
- total books: 38/50
- middle grade: 8/12
- graphic novels: 3/12
- nonfiction: 2/6
- classics: 0.5/2

Great reading year so far! 💙📚
2024 was a huge reading year for me (71), and while I’ve set my Goodreads goal to 50 for 2025, I wanted to add a few more granular goals:
- read 12 middle grade books
- read 12 graphic novels
- read 6 nonfiction books
- read 2 “classic” books

I heard a cicada last night. Hot temps are one thing, but for me it’s not really summer until the cicadas start singing.

This novella might be the best audiobook I’ve listened to all year. I’m sure the print version is good but the story really shines as an audiobook (with singing)! 🪐📚

If you’re looking for a good beach read but don’t want to spend money or wait 20 weeks for a library hold, try searching beach read lists from previous years! Lots of good stuff you may have missed out there.

Also interesting to see the way book media has changed. Few book blogs these days.

It’s officially summer - I just had my first Tomato & Mayo Toast of the season! Farmers market or backyard tomatoes are a must!
For some reason I only eat them for breakfast. 🍅

If nothing else good comes of 2025, at least we have gotten two stellar narrative puzzle games. First I fell hard for Roottrees are Dead, only to soon become consumed by Blue Prince and I could not be happier about it

Uh oh, I think I like Folk Music.

Sometimes I wish I were in a book club so that I had someone to rant with about this damn book, that I’m hate-listening to at this point.

And Somewhere Beyond the Sea, which was equally rantworthy for completely different reasons.

Back in 2020-2021, it was hard to make any plans more than a week or two in advance because I didn’t know what The State of Things would be. 2025 is starting to feel a lot like that.
