Actually the Empire is based on Nazi Germany and Palpatine is based on Nixon. The original trilogy had some political messages deep within them but not enough to damage the story, rather enhance it😅

Qui Gon was the last really old school Jedi, someone who actually meddled in affairs in ways that other Jedi would find dubious but ultimately he always did so because he believed in justice for every day people. Dooku but less extreme
