In my ongoing obsession w/trees: been noticing yellow jackets swarming every alder tree (one of the trees the parks replaced ash with). Finally noticed the alders have white stuff coating their branches. Read that its wooly aphids! They secrete a “honeydew” (ie a sugar poo) that the wasps eat

No photos but shout out the neighbors in NE Minneapolis who still turned out on Central Avenue even after the event was cancelled. Ppl were not afraid, and there was so much support from all kinds of ppl driving through. Washington Post picked it up!? Tho I’d say there were 100s of ppl not 1000s
