I live near (not on) an army base. The sounds of bombs exploding is a constant. When newcomers call out for explanations, they are 100% met with the phrase it’s “the sound of freedom”. It irritates me. I prefer my ideal freedom to be tranquil and quiet. I know my desire is pie in the sky. Sigh!
