I bought this book solely because it was by Julia Cameron.

I haven’t read it yet but I feel extremely viscerally against any book that includes the word “Diet”.

Yes, this hatred for the word includes Helen Sword’s book “The Writer’s Diet”.

Teaching a short course on Advanced Ethnography and as always, I am using some of the excellent work of @jessicacalarco.com This article helps me teach educational ethnography, but also longitudinal ethnography and comparative ethnography. Three variations of ethnography in one article. Thanks Jess!

Thanks to @aducey.bsky.social Amie Kiddle, Laura Montes de Oca, the Sociology Department of @ucalgary.bsky.social and the LACS Group for hosting me today! Two talks (governance of homelessness and ethnography of climate migration) and I’m completely wiped. But grateful for feedback and questions!

My second talk is with the Department of Sociology and will focus on ethnographic studies of climate migration.

Thanks to Drs. @aducey.bsky.social and Laura Montes de Oca for the invitation.

Apparently Wacquant de used to criticize urban ethnography from within. Can’t wait to read this book.

Celebrating my birthday with my Mom. I am alive because she survived a high risk pregnancy of a breech baby with the umbilical cord around his neck.

And yet here I am. My Mom’s bravery, strength and resilience (and a fantastic team of doctors!)

Also on the same day (October 3rd), I'll be presenting my work on bureaucratic autonomy and the governance of homelessness in Aguascalientes, Mexico. @ucalgary.bsky.social

Thanks to Drs. Amie Kiddle and Laura Montes de Oca for the invitation, and to the Latin American Cities and Societies group.

This book chapter on how qualitative methods are marginalized from mainstream demography seemed relevant to my question.

(the entire book, published by @elgarpublishing.bsky.social and edited by Pranee Liamputtong, is absolute gold)

People who only see the case study as a research design and not as a method would probably have a conniption reading this excellent volume.

Do I self-cite? I certainly do.

Yeah, I would say this Google Scholar Citations profile matches more or less well what I work on (ethnography, institutional analysis, bottled water, policy instruments, industrial districts, transnational activism, Ostrom/commons):
