i remember back in 2017 when i hadn’t ever bothered to progress past arr i somehow managed to get to coerthas even not having gotten to post-msq and man. i was so excited about that

arenvald is my favourite b-team scion of all time and i have mixed feelings about his disability post paglth’an. i want more of him, more genuine acknowledgment of how his disability impacts him, and how said disability does not stop him from being an integral figure to ala mhigo and the story.

i’m abusing this wolqotd. ILBERD. the way he never gave up on his dream for a free ala mhigo, even after losing everything, including his family. the rage, the desperation. we’ll never know if his final act was the influence of nidhogg or losing himself in vengeance, truly the villain of all time.

and lyse. i am not diaspora myself, but through cultural genocide i have lost so much of my culture too. lyse’s longing for home and justice, her arc of barging in to a situation she doesn’t fully understand, immediately resolving to learn, still never being considered anything less than ala mhigan.

fordola really resonated with me as a mixed white/indigenous person in the futility of trying to appeal and succeed in a system that is designed to position you as lesser than human. she is a difficult pill to swallow, but she is a commentary on real-life colonialism that is so important to me.
