The protagonist burns herself. Most panels don't have "expressive" colors like this, so it feels great to cut loose once in a while.
Also, after speaking with people working in the same field, I have once again been reminded of how SLOW I work. A standard page takes me about 9 hours to color =__=

I recently illustrated these for my friend Jakob's birthday, which was fun. But I have to say, if I had to choose a creature to represent myself, it definitely would be in black and white. But he asked for a card that represented me in his commander deck, soo.
It's the Magic card Bilbo, Birthday Celebrant with custom art. It is named Jakob, Anniversary Emperor, and depicts a bearded man with a sinister and serious expression sitting on an armchair, which is itself placed upon a very big birthday cake. He is wearing a silly birthday hat. The rulestext and card types are written on the cake layers, while the power and toughness are written on gift boxes on the bottom of the cake. Also there's a lot of confetti everywhere. It's the Magic card Sister Hospitaller with custom art. It is named Gregor, Birthday Clown, and depicts me! I'm wearing a clowns costume with a striped hat and a striped pair of pants. I'm holding a balloon person, but its midsection is way too long. I'm standing under a spotlight with several shadowy figures with sinister glowing eyes surrounding and watching me. The rulestext is placed on the lower end of the card in between two shadowy silhouettes. The flavor text reads, "Look, I made a balloon animal! In the shape of your dead friend."

Creature token I'm still proud of.
A creature token for Magic the Gathering. It depicts a clown robot in black and white. Its main body is egg-shaped and also its head. Its right arm has two pronged claw, its left a ball with three digits. The left arm looks like a cartoon accordion, the right like a wavy tube. Its thin legs are crossed and end in rollerskates. On its head is a cone-shaped cap that seems to be a light bulb. The text around the creature, like its power and toughness and its name, uses the space around the clown and hugs the illustration tightly.

Thanks again for the great illustration! Here's the version with text. This card is part of an additional 30 cards that are supposed to balance out the Cube a bit more. This card is supposed to synergize with Vehicles while buffing Merfolk.
It's a made-up magic card called Brackwater Rackateer, illustrated by Alberto S. Ballesteros. It depicts a merfolk with blue skin. Only part of its upper body is poking out of the water as well as its right hand, which is holding a knife. Its fin is also poking out of the water in front of the merfolk. It has an angry expression on its face. Behind it are dead trees, and a full moon is hanging in the sky. In front of the merfolk, the water darkens, and on top of it is the rulestext, which reads: Discard a card, Untap another Merfolk you control: Merfolk you control get +1/+1 until end of turn. Activate only once each turn and only as a sorcery.

I am still pretty proud of the forms I came up with for these two.
A made-up magic card called Amalgamation Driver. It depicts a fluid amorphous being that has formed itself into a sort of motorcycle which wheels form an infinity symbol. On top, the being forms a driver whose arms flow into the front wheels. Its head is very wide, and it only has a single eye. The eye-form has two circles on the side and three rectangle lashes on top and three on the bottom. It costs 4 generic mana, is a 2/2, and the rulestext says: Whenever Amalgamation Driver crews a Vehicle, that Vehicle gets +2/+2 until end of turn. A made-up magic card called Quicksilver Chauffeur. It depicts a fluid amorphous being that has formed itself into a sort of car. The car has a cuboid form. The wheels are inside the cuboid and form an infinity symbol. On top, the being forms a driver whose arms flow into the steering wheel. Its head is very wide, and it only has a single eye. The eye-form has two circles on the side and three rectangle lashes on top and three on the bottom. It costs 6 generic mana, is a 2/3, and the rulestext says: Whenever Quicksilver Chauffeur crews a Vehicle, create a tapped token that's a copy of that Vehicle. Quicksilver Chauffeur crews Vehicles as though its power were 2 greater.

Her name is Kamen Rider Heart, and she's full of zest.
A red powered armor suit. The helmet has two protrusions on the top that make it look like a heart. The suit has several air vents on the back of the hands, the elbows and knees. On the back are two big turbines.

YEEEEAAAARRSS ago, I drew these personifications of my favorite decks. That was a time when most people only had 60 cards in their decks. Details in the Alt-texts.

I did this illustration years ago based on the KR Tunstall song 'Suddenly I see'. I printed it as a sticker, and the weather slowly let it fade away. I'm not sure why, but I find that poetic.

That being said, everybody had a lot of fun! Steal was especially popular, with several people building a deck around it. I really loved it when people chose cards that were close to my heart.
A custom Magic card called Kobold Cutpurse. It depicts a Kobold, a humanoid creature with bat-like ears and face. They're wearing a neckerchief around their face, and a huge backpack is on their back. They're running and wielding a knife that is curved forward at the top. The card lets you take the top two cards of your opponents library once the creature deals combat damage to a player and place them on your side of the battlefield face down under your control, at which point they turn into Loot artifacts. A custom Magic card called Scraplord, Kobold Tyrant. It depicts a winged dragon, its right front leg is replaced with a prosthetic. The card says that if you would steal one or more cards, you could steal an additional one.

Lands like Cryptic Spires and a custom one that works similarly we're popular and effective and made color fixing pretty easy. However, this land here didn't work at all, probably because of the aforementioned lack of graveyard filling.
A custom Magic card called Cryptic Riftstone Formation. It depicts a floating rock that has grass growing on it. Right smaller stones are orbiting it. As you create your deck, you get to choose colors, and once this card is in the graveyard, the lands you control can be tapped for the chosen colors.

The graveyard really doesn't fill very fast if you don't have a lot of synergies to make that work, with mill, discard, sacrifice, or removal. Which means reanimation effects or abilities that need a full graveyard go nowhere.
A custom Magic card called Necropolis Fortress. It's a Fortification, an artifact you can attach to a land. It depicts a floating graveyard/castle. A custom Magic card called Marrow Song. It's a Gravebound enchantment that is put into the graveyard as it resolves. It depicts the black shapes of two dancing skeletons, the one in the foreground has horns. A custom Magic card called Revered Ancestor. It's a creature card, more specifically, a dinosaur skeleton. It depicts a Stegosaurus skeleton, but its back plates are wisps of flames or sparkling stars.

People really don't like waiting for pay-offs on cards, maybe because of the aforementioned cheap evasion creatures. That's why some Fortifications didn't get picked.
The same goes for Vehicles and the Gravebound enchantments that you cast into the graveyard, by the way.

It's a Gravebound enchantment that, when it resolves, is put into the graveyard instead of the battlefield. It depicts a grassy ground in which a maw emerges that has huge teeth. A custom Magic card called Life in the Boneyard. It's also a Gravebound enchantment. It depicts a tiny dinosaur on top of a pile of dinosaur bones.

Evasion is bonkers strong in a draft environment. Especially cheap creatures you can play early. Entire matches were decided by fast plays that just couldn't be dodged.

Just realized I never showed the finished card of this goober. I really like little smarmy underlings that base their big egos on the large monster their working under. Charming fellows, really!

Their right arm is a replacement with three spikes on a board as a hand. The rulestext states that other kobolds get +1/+0, and when you first steal in a turn, you draw and then discard a card. A made-up magic card called Scraplord, Kobold Tyrant. It depicts a dragon with two wings and a crocodile-like face. One of its front legs is missing and is replaced with a prosthetic that is bolted on the dragon's body. The rulestext says that it has flying and haste and that it gets +1/+1 for each Loot you control, which are artifacts that cards you steal from your opponents turn into. It also says that if you would steal a number of cards, you steal that many plus one instead.

Redid the lettering on my old Thatcher Revolt proxy.
It's the Magic card 'Thatcher Revolt' with custom art. The card frame is illustrated as red flames, and the letters of the card name are made out of straw.
