Really don't understand how people juggle these supposed "on-track" targets with talk of a just transition. Feel like discourse around climate justice has lulled some people into the false belief that there is something inherently equitable about the process of transitioning away from fossil fuels.
Worth doing a bit of maths around the UK's 81% NDC announcement. It comes from the net-zero 2050 pathway, which assumes a typical UK citizen receives 3x more emission space than an 'equal per capita' share of the remaining 50% ≤ 1.5°C carbon budget. Colonialism continues unchecked & even celebrated.

With the way things are going we don't need to worry at all about some future AI turning us all into human batteries to optimize paperclip production.
We will have already done it ourselves trying to will AGI into existence long before that.

The Nordic countries, portrayed by the elites as climate champions, argue that the Paris Agreement should override older climate treaties - the ones that put more responsibility on wealthy countries. They're also questioning whether we can really hold specific countries responsible for climate harm.

Excerpt from the 2024 UN Adaptation Gap Report.

Maybe someone should look into how we could maybe "seize" these "means" of adaption 🤔
