These are MY thoughts, not a party’s principal. I do not endorse anyone specific. If my thoughts align with a party’s platform, I am not being fooled or manipulated. As a child, every election I was reminded that my vote was not for me. MY VOTE WAS FOR EVERY CANADIAN. I will be voting for the best chance for Canada’s future, not just mine. I will be looking at the voting records and election promises that support: 1. Universal Healthcare, including mental health care, harm reduction and treatment, dental care and yes access to contraceptives and abortion. 2. Universal Basic Income to bring our children and marginalized people out of poverty cycles and ensure opportunity for all. 3. World Class Education because the more educated our population is, the stronger we are. 4. Universal Childcare for all families because our kids deserve the best care in the world. 5. Affordable Housing Initiatives. Everyone deserves a place to call home. 6. Our Global Wellbeing. Climate Change is here, using a paper straw might not make that big of a difference on the global scale but is bringing reusable straws to the movie theater really that big a deal? 7. Enhanced progress in our Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action for our First Nations People. I know these stances may mean I will pay more taxes, the extra cost of delay in care has irreparable impacts on us all. The results when money is put into prevention and community programs have been proven time and time again around the world. Where I was born and the colour of my skin do not determine my worth, my actions do. Long after I am gone, Canada will be here. I am not sharing this to start an argument. The arguments are already happening, and we are being pulled farther and farther apart every day. Our children’s children will be cleaning up the mess we leave them. Do you want to be remembered as the generation that was too selfish to care about their own grandchildren’s future? I don’t.
