They still do. I'm learning what gear modulus is and how to determine it by making measurements. 🙂

Brasstrains.com is a good reference for old brass hmm...cad and 3d printed brass....I figure it can be repaired....but it'll be put aside while I finish my On30 Porter Forney...and then my goal is to finish my HO shelf layout in 2025. 😁

Thanks. I took it apart today and discovered it's going to be harder than I thought. Looks like I may need to unsolder some parts to get a gear on. Binding of the mechanism seems to be why the gear broke. Going to be a while on the back burner as I figure out how to do it...and learn about gears

Old brass has no manuals or diagrams. First I need to measure what I have and see is nwsl.com has what I need. If not it's off to eBay and the world of 3d printing.

Quite certain. It's a Gem Models ST 101 Illinois Central Suburban 2-4-4T. Made January 1967. Here's a comparison shot with my On30 Bachmann Forney.

The gear appears to be delrin...but it's not complete. So this will involve a complete disassembly, wheel pulling and requartering

Thanks. I like small steam locomotives, particularly small Forneys.

I found that car weight is very important in On 18. Small, light models don't track very well. 👍
