By letter of law, it's a definite penalty. But the law needs changing, we can't have handballs like that leading to a free shot at goal with an 80% chance of scoring. It's a blight on the game

Enjoyed that Ivan Juric's Saints spell last season was so forgettable that nobody in the panel even remembered it, let alone us laymen

Question for the pod: why can't we ever play a normal match of football against Chelsea? Why do we insist on a collective head loss where players make appalling mistakes and get nasty and petulant, always against that club, no matter who is in the dugout or on the pitch? I'm absolutely sick of it.

Is football ruining itself as a spectacle with all the incessant focus on set pieces? There was a three minute spell in Everton v Spurs where the ball was in play for about 15 seconds total because they kept lining up for a new set piece, and it really ruins the flow we want to see in "our game".

Goal difference counts before head to head so if the final game was tomorrow Italy would have to beat Norway 8-0 to win the group

Most will be bots and the odd angry gamblers, maybe 5% people who claim to support the club (which is of course also too many). That's how it works with all racial abuse online now.

I thought Arsenal and Chelsea were supposed to be rivals, so why are Arsenal so keen on signing Chelsea's castaways every single summer?

Inter-Totally > Women's Euros > Under 21s > Under 19s > Gold Cup >>>>>> Club World Cup

Why should we believe either club is actually in trouble when Chelsea continues to show that the rules aren't worth the kilobytes of storage space they're taking up? Signing Gittens and Pedro surely means they think they're fine

Only here for the Inter Totally, a far more important contest than the CWC

@footballcliches.bsky.social might be able to discuss this

Feels very proper and dare I say English to be apologising for foul language. We had a Norwegian footballer in a domestic game curse loads on live over the weekend and the reporter just let him vent. No complaints from any viewers or anyone else

I agree with the general but if anybody has deserved some stick coming their way, it's Arteta. He's been proper panto villain idiot for five years now and it's catching up with him.

Why are a potential title decider and the FA Cup semi final being played at the exact same time? Surely someone's made a mistake here
April 27, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Be fair to Everton and Spurs, neither are faffing around in tier two
April 27, 2025 at 12:57 PM
Should referees refuse to officiate Real Madrid games until the club apologises properly for the horrific attitudes and conditions it has created?

Spent 10 minutes with JD Vance and decided to sacrifice his mortal form to have a word with the big man upstairs. Fair play

The segue from an absolute diatribe against VAR and the audible anger straight into the happy tune of McNamara's band gave me a real good laugh, so thanks for that 👏🏻

I'm sorry but I literally cannot read your website for all the ads, even though the little content I am able to read before it's covered up is good.

I thought the rule was if you were a Spurs fan in football you had to be a Spurs fan i basketball as well.

Apologies if you've already done a piece on this and I've missed it, but is it time to look at Spurs relationship with CAA Base? If it had been Mendes who represented our manager and most new signings people would be up in arms over it, yet it feels like this relationship is just as worryingly deep.

Today's (Wednesday) Guardian Football Weekly has Max uttering the words "a clothesline feels like a red card offence," which got me thinking. Which other household items might be considered in the same bracket? Interested to hear the panel's thoughts on this.

Thanks for this Jack. I was very disappointed in how quiet the crowd went yesterday. I wanted to see some passion but not against Ange or the players, but to tell Levy he's failing yet another manager. Ange will take flak, and his tactics can be questioned, but this predicament isn't his fault.
