“Zodiac” is somehow a perfect foundational myth (but not a myth) for the modern day Bay Area. Horror like that often seems but a step away here and now, whether in the TL or in a billionaire’s backyard bbq.

I think we’re just at this stage where every body is blowing smoke up each other’s bums, VCs and tech co leaders keep stacking billions, and there have yet to be consequences.

But house of cards inevitably collapse, and bills come due.

Thus, when an AI generates something for us, we really have to view it with suspicion. Furthermore, the models are constantly being retrained, so it’s not like people, where we can say, “Alice has been reliable for ten years, we can trust Alice,” or “Eve is sometimes full of s##t.”
