Gold is different. Gold is something nobody in your backwater hometown has ever seen before. Gold is Power. Kings wage war over gold. Gold changes people. When you loot gold, tell us how you plan to use it to change your life. When you spend gold, you get what you desire. Gold cannot be divided or shared. It is supremely valuable, yes, but there's never enough to go around. Gold can only be used to accomplish 1 person's dreams. Gold takes up an encumbrance slot. An estate overlooking the Chasm? Easily done. Your crimes erased and your courtly position returned? Think bigger, my liege! A new life, name, and face, far away from this dreadful Keep? Just say when.

Good morning I hope everyone that has played HyperMall understood THIS because it's the implication of the entire game and part of its core thesis.

Your Background isn't who you are, it's a part of you. You're a person forced to do shit you probably shouldn't want to do. The rules hate you.
Instead, the rules abstractly simulate the social reality of the characters. Rules in an expressionist game tell you who your character is expected to be, how society sees them, and how they ought to behave. Rules define the cultural norms and structures enforced upon the characters by themselves, by their communities, and by their world. These are simulations, focusing on representing the subjective structure of these social realities, even when that reality is unfair, unbalanced, or narratively uninteresting. The characters are frequently aware of their position in life and the way the rules work upon them, even if it’s only metaphorical or abstract. “Power gaming” in an expressionist game means pursuing the goals set out by the social reality of the characters.

ASSUMING THE WORLD STILL EXISTS BY THEN LOL

A short game about language and violence, GODSTRENGTH is all about using Words of Power to shape reality in unexpected and bizarre ways.
The Is - the smashed shell of the old world and the dripping, fecund yolk of the new. Fucked up beyond repair, The Is might as well be hell on earth. Most cities are rubble, cursed, and infested with Devils. The Is is paradise. It's not all bad, though. All the politicians, all the dictators, and all the billionaires are gone. The only thing slowing down total societal collapse (which is happening, a slow rot, one disaster at a time) is the fact that too many people died when God fell to earth to make resources a problem. And the fact that we're all basically immortal. In The Is, only strength matters. Try to take what you want - there's plenty to go around, if you're strong. We're all used to violence. If you can't hack it, if you hesitate, if you think there's a better way, you won't be around long enough for us to say we told you so. We'll put your Words to use.
