*HONESTY IN LEADERSHIP* Even 'nice guys' in positions of power will tell lies to escape judgement, blur lines with 'diplomacy', avoiding conflict, to save their own face. May the world find and be filled with more Mamdanis. We need real, I'm done with fake half-arsed leaders.

There's a French guy who plays guitar and sings to animals and it's the most wholesome and heartwarming content you'll ever see. They react to his serenading in the most astonishing ways. Plumes Music. Look him up!

Am I the only one who feels weird about foods displayed uncovered in the open air at cafés? Literally everyone breathing and coughing over it at the counter, I find it so unappetising and frankly gross.

Massive mihi to anyone here who donated to support our friends who lost their 1 year old daughter recently. We attended a beautiful service for wee Taylor today. What an impact you made young lady, a full house and so much love for your sassy ways. Forever in our hearts x

Our dear friends also lost their baby girl on Saturday due to septicemia post heart procedure. In her year of life Taylor captured the hearts of everyone she met. We will miss your joy for life, little one. Please donate to support our friends at this very sad time givealittle.co.nz/cause/in-mem...
Forever in our hearts, Taylor - help us support the Sturzaker family.
Help us raise funds to support Taylor's family at this very difficult time.

The last three weeks have been an abomination for our whānau and friends. We lost my brother Johnny completely out of the blue in late Sept. He leaves behind 2 adult children and 1 teenager, and many heartbroken friends and family members. He was a tough cookie, but fiercely loyal and loving.

Worst advice I ever received? To "get a nanny" for my son who'd just finished leukaemia treatment so I could work 60hrs a week on a project for the next 6 months. That's when I knew our priorities and work ambitions would never align again.

Lead in a way your tīpuna would be proud of. Imagine they're looking down on you before you write that email, construct that dishonest narrative, act from a place of deep insecurity, manage your team with manipulative and fear-based tactics. You're being watched, always.

Expose all corrupt leaders. That's it, that's the message.

I realise now why I knew little about Charlie Kirk til now. I heard him speak early on and his opinions were gross to me. I stopped listening to him, forgot about him, and got on with living. Can we try this? Stop giving power to these people and their words by getting whipped up & violent.

I don't condone murder AND I don't cherry pick facts. This guy nails my observations and feelings on Charlie Kirk's 'legacy'. Where to from here, fellow humans?

This morning I felt a lot better so I went for a bike ride. Rookie mistake. Turns out I'm not very good at being still and letting myself rest #pneumonia

Experienced comms people aren't basic "yes" people. We won't say what you want to hear to avoid conflicts, we address issues. We won't enable/accept poor behaviour and leadership that creates toxic org culture. We will be honest and offer real solutions. Don't want that? Please don't hire us.

So I developed pneumonia after a long-winded bout of covid/flu/mystery respiratory illness. On the mend now but wowsers, the amount of antibiotics required to get me here has been 😱 also was issued my first ever inhaler ☹️

I think this might be the first time in ages that i don't have an annual report or two to work on. Just quietly, hooray!

HR experts - how would you conduct an employee satisfaction survey in a small organisation (<10 people) to ensure it's safe for people to give honest feedback without fear of repercussion? I suspect there's no bulletproof way to do this if fear/distrust is already set in?

I couldn't care less about your salary band or how many people report to you. How do you treat people? Are you honest and open? Do people trust you? Do you take accountability for your mistakes and not shift blame onto others? That's what I care about. That's what leadership is about.

Out of 31,000 submissions to the Royal Commission of Inquiry on NZ's Covid-19 pandemic response, ours was 1 of a few recorded on video to be play at the public hearings and kept on public record. We had a unique perspective to share given our son was in cancer treatment throughout the lockdowns.

Repeat after me...you don't have to speak te reo Māori fluently to represent the interests of kaupapa Māori orgs credibly. You don't have to whakapapa Māori either. Empathy, skill, and a drive for equity are all you need. Using coloniser tactics to exclude people from serving whānau Māori is 🚩

Travel expenses by car for business purposes is $1.17 per km, up from $1.04 for 2023-2024 - no questions. In contrast we had to fight hard to get the National Travel Assistance scheme raised to $0.34 per km from $0.28 for sick people to make necessary travel. Our values are upside down, NZ.
