It's bonkers how world events just rely on one event happening (or not) to totally revise the outcome. It's mind blowing really.

Not to mention the Ottoman Empire to the east. If Spain were not united until later they may not be part of the Holy League therefore the Ottomans may have been more successful in several compaigns.

(That said it's assuming Aragon & Castille don't unite and therefore Spain remains divided. However, it's likely that this would happen later and therefore events would play out much the same but at a lesser degree).

There has to be some alternate historical novel series in there somewhere. I'm thinking that that the rise of Lutherism maybe causes a war in Europe (another one!) between France and Germanic lands. England allies with France due to Henry VIII's staunch catholic beliefs.
