The atmosphere. Was introduced to DOOM by the GBA port before buying the game on steam, and oh boy, KTITD was so atmospheric from start to finish. Even with an engine older than me, it managed to encapsulate me in a world that felt big and limitless, I think the skybox contributed a lot to that lol.
