Today is my birthday. I’m 46, and it dawned on me recently that if I want to write all the books and screenplays currently taking shape in my imagination, I’m going to need to live another 46 years — maybe longer. Time retains an urgency for me. I still have so much to do.

Last night @ BookSoup, the tall and talented Seán Hewitt enthralled everyone during a conversation with @jasonblitman.bsky.social of @gaysreading.bsky.social Go buy Seán’s novel OPEN, HEAVEN. (I stayed up way too late reading the opening chapter. It is mesmerizing!)

I got my first library card from the Indianapolis Public Library when I was six years old, and I still have it. I’ll be back in Indy on Tues, March 4 for a @butleru.bsky.social book event at 7:30pm at the Schrott Center for the Arts. If I swing by the library, will my 40 yr old card still work?
