Also Rush Sykes (the main character) has one of the weirdest clothing design I've seen in a JRPG.
The world in the game is kinda like FF12, so having him wear basically some kind of fantasy jeans and shoes that look like baskets doesn't make him blend in at all.

They could have done something similar with how in FFT:TIC you can choose whether to play the updated or the vanilla version. They could have added all the bonus content to the updated version and that's it.
I wonder if the real reason they didn't add stuff was to kinda save costs or something.

SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered literally does that when you start a new game and I'm pretty sure the SaGa division has so much less budget allowed than the FF one, so that's not like they couldn't do it.

I may not be fully into Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, but it has the most wonderful demon animation I could have ever wanted in a SMT game (Shouten my beloved <3).

52. A Useful Ghost ("Fantôme utile" in French)
Come for the trailer being hilarious, stay for the powerful political message hitting you like a brick in the 2nd half. The story more or less starts with the ghost of someone's wife haunting a vacuum cleaner, I won't say more because the movie is wild.

51. Ribâ, nagarenaide yo ("En Boucle" in French)
Another Japanese movie, with a very simple plot: all the inhabitant around a traditional inn of a small Japanese town are trapped inside a loop that repeats after only 2 minutes pass, which makes them panic and kinda reflect on their lives or such.

50. The Exit 8
Wow that's my 50th media consumed this year, that's a nice milestone!
A Japanese horror movie based on the indie game of the same name, it's overall good but sadly has 1-2 moments in the movie where the main character suddenly becomes dumb for the sake of drama, which is a shame.

49. Octopath Traveler (played on Nintendo Switch)
After finishing OT2 I was curious to try out the original game despite hearing from online and @ameliochazelle.bsky.social that the stories in the game were honestly pretty bad (spoiler alert: it's true), and boy what a change from OT2.

48. Weapons
Amazing horror movie that unravels little by little the mystery of an entire classroom of 17 children (minus 1) overnight in a small town, with things getting more tense and fucked up as the plot goes on, and flawed characters navigating this horrible situation as best as they can.

47. The Naked Gun
Really stupid and hilarious movie, if you like litteral or absurd/dumb humor, you'll have an amazing time! It's really cool to see Liam Neeson trying a crazy role that is completely different from his usual bread and butter.

46. Octopath Traveler 2 (played on Switch)
I finally got around to finish this JRPG that I dropped for an entire year because with having 8 characters' stories with their last chapters having the same overall level is that once you're done with 2-3 stories, the other final bosses are just too easy.

45. The Last Stop in Yuma County
A thriller in which 2 wanted bank robbers are holding up hostages 2 people at a drive-in, with all of them stuck here until an oil truck arrive to refill the nearby filling station. And more people enter the dinner for the same reason, unaware of the situation.

44. The Bad Guys 2
Incredible animated movie, the animation is even better than the prequel and the story and the characters are as enjoyable, if not even more. It's also wilder in my opinion, so if you loved The Bad Guys, you'll ADORE The Bad Guys 2. One of the best movie I've seen this year.

43. Shogun (Season 1)
"Game of Thrones but in Japan" doesn't exactly sum up the series despite both of them showing the politics and deception/backstabbing moves of characters, but they are definitely different from each others (there is no fantasy stuff in Shogun for example). A good 1st season.

42. The Messenger (played on Nintendo Switch)

Really good action game with a bit of Metroidvania that is a big hommage to Ninja Gaiden. The main mechanic of alternating between an 8-bits and a 16-bits world is really neat, although there is a bit too much backtracking at times.

41. Superman (2025 movie)

It was alright. I know a lot of people enjoyed it a lot, but personally I found it really basic, with some stuff that was thrown in without much explanations (me only knowing the bare minimum about Superman probably doesn't help), but Superman being very hopeful was neat!

40. The Fantastic 4: First Steps

I honestly didn't expect much out of the movie initially but it's genuinely a good and enjoyable Marvel movie, probably the best Fantastic 4 movie by a large margin. I mean really, it's much better than I anticpated.

39. L'Accident de Piano

Really good movie from Quentin Dupieux (Rubber, Yannick) about a very famous influencer and her assistant having a little retreat in a chalet after an incident that happened before.
Nothing is known about said incident at first but get more details about it progressively.
September 7, 2025 at 2:50 PM
38. Eddington

Another banger movie from Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar, Beau Is Afraid), seeing how a lot of characters (especially the main character) react to the Covid-19 pandemic in the city of the same name and how things get shittier and wilder. Heavy and intense but amazing movie.

Man I just checked the Steam page for Octopath Traveler 0 and I just realised it won't have French as a language (it's not mentioned on the official Square Enix page either) while the 2 previous Octopath Traveler games had a French translation, that's really disappointing even if I'll still play it.

37. 8-Bit Adventures 2 (played on Switch although it's also available on Steam, itchio and Playstation)

The sequel to 8-Bit Adventures: The Forgotten Journey, which released after 7 years (!) of development. I am not surprised at all it took that long given how it is a huge improvement!
July 5, 2025 at 8:19 PM
36. Reflet dans un diamant mort (Reflection in a Dead Diamond)
"James Bond but darker, kinda on acids and a mindfuck" could somewhat resume the movie. It has a LOT of James Bond and comic books reference, the realisator clearly loves all of this.
July 5, 2025 at 8:02 PM
35. Amélie et la métaphysique (Little Amélie or the Character of Rain)

Really good animated movie for all ages that actually talks about some pretty rough topics, like the horrors of war and how its survivors can become xenophobics as a result. It's also really sweet, heartwarming, very emotional.
July 5, 2025 at 7:55 PM
34. Elio

The latest Pixar movie. Its (very, very) basic trailer doesn't do justice to the movie at all, it's miles better than it looks. Unfortunately it's bombing really hard because it barely got any marketing (I was close to not hear about it at all honestly).
July 5, 2025 at 7:50 PM
33. 8-Bit Adventures 1: The Forgotten Journey Remastered Edition (on itch.io and Steam)

A pretty good RPG Maker XP game. I really like the elemental-weakness system (Blue > Red > Green > Blue) because each enemy is literally the color of their element, so you know immediatly its weakness/resistance
