12. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Wail N Soul M Singles Selecta. This collection of '67-'68 rocksteady self-releases is so good and often overlooked. Has a distinctly rural rasta sound in places that gives it a unique and very relaxing atmosphere. They never quite sounded like this before or after.

12. Bob Marley & The Wailers - Wail N Soul M Singles Selecta. This collection of '67-'68 rocksteady self-releases is so good and often overlooked. Has a distinctly rural rasta sound in places that gives it a unique and very relaxing atmosphere. They never quite sounded like this before or after.
11. New Radicals - Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too. An album that never gets old. In which Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois and Rick Nowels find the perfect balance of their various styles, whilst still managing to sound spontaneous and wild. Stay tuned for my book on Gregg in the future.

10. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica . A tour de force of organised chaos. Heard this when I was 11 & was never the same. I laughed at the atonality, silly voices, and rambling narratives. But the unique polyrhythms and dissonance kept me listening, and I listened to it every summer for years.
