That’s a difficult one. I don’t think it’s wrong to be inspired by someone else’s art. It’s a very good and common thing. Though if it’s very similar/still recognisable with the original artwork I would leave a shoutout “Art was inspired by this (artwork) by this (artist).” Just out of courtesy.
