And our cake is resplendent in our home. I have no idea how I’m going to cut slices from it!
The cake has icing snowflakes dotted around the side with a few small ones on top. There is a mound of ice on the right. A ‘MermaClaus’ has popped up through the blue water and is resting on the ice. He is Christmas red (naturally) with a sparkling sheen and white iced fur trim. He has quite a tidy beard considering the swim he’s just been through. His hat has a little bobble on the end and his tail has gold streaks on it. He looks a little surprised that he’s surfaced in the middle of a cake!

All #Christmas cakes are now in their respective homes. This one was delivered last weekend
The iced cake has snowflakes around the side. On top a cute polar bear is climbing out of the light blue water to look at a clear blue star which has fallen from the sky, his ears angled forward and his black nose sniffing the air gently

Been having fun with the edible glitter and icing today after making #gingerbread houses and a #Christmas tree yesterday; the first of a few to bake

#Christmas cakes are now in their greaseproof paper and foil blankets, slowly marinating. Last feed with a special mixture to enhance the flavour. Smelling good

The rectangular cake at the top of the image is the ‘spare’ for a summertime slice and will go into the freezer soon. Both cakes are wrapped in brown greaseproof paper and foil

I had some help stirring the mixture to ensure a #Christmas wish is incorporated into the cakes. A very important part!

2 weeks ago: Was busy with the usual batch of #Christmas cakes. Still finalising this year’s decorating theme
Two saucepans on the hob gently simmering. In the pans are a jewel-like mixture of sultanas, raisins, currants, glacé cherries, orange & lemon peel. They are gently bathing in a fragrant mix of pear cider and a splash of brandy before soaking overnight to plump up fully Two of the cake mixtures are now in their tins, carefully wrapped in a double layer of brown paper, and popped into the oven for a gentle long bake. They are smelling good enough to eat…in fact I did eat some: chefs perk to scrape the bowl and lick the spoon
