The Freudian concepts of displacement and condensation and Laplanchian concepts of phantasms that I spoke of in previous posts are all a form of social domination. Above all forms of domination, social/cultural domination is by far the most pervasive, persistent, pernicious and problematic form.

Laplanche’s Phantasm is a good way to describe Western society’s mass schizophrenia. The imaginary fears peddled by the state, through mass media form a phantasm which displaces our valid fears and condenses them under scapegoats.
