Sustained observations of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) since 2004. Funded by NERCscience, NSF and supported by NOAA
AMOC in density space, heat and freshwater transports, and 2D velocity fields at 26N have been updated to March 2024. They are freely available on our website at rapid.ac.uk

On DY186 Maria De La Fuente Ruiz is measuring ocean oxygen levels. This is important as oxygen is an indicator to the health of our oceans.

As sea temperatures increase, oxygen 'dead zones' can be created because warm water cannot hold as much oxygen. This can prove deadly to all marine life. 🧪⚠️

Chris Cardwell is an Electronic Engineer who is working on a prototype remote telemetry system for use on the RAPID moorings and in the wider oceanographic community.

Outside of the current expedition, he is found developing novel oceanographic sensors, samplers and observing systems.
