Someday I’ll give a talk at @posit.co #positconf, but it’s not this year again :-(
Next year I’ll send a crazy idea !

The opportunity to learn&use S4 in a real project arose this week. I kinda like it but besides the added guardrails/documentation I don’t really see where I would need it instead of S3 for new projects.
Probably a skill issue, I’ll revisit this statement in a few weeks !!

And I had fun anyway

Honestly Duolingo it's very nice of you to tell me how much I've practiced this year but I'd much rather know how many times I wrote fitler, susbtr and duckbd while working with R !!!

Finally got around to build my own desktop computer, piece by piece. It was as easy as the web said!
Now I want to hunt for upgrade pieces and cool cables … feels like a deep rabbit hole

I’ve been using @duckdb daily for a bit over a year and it’s been such a boon.
The arrival of the pg_scanner extension makes me dream of the same for other backends ! I wonder how much of the code from the pg extension can be reused. Need to skill up in C++ …

Everytime I try to make smthg using another langage, I end up coming back to R. It feels silly, I know its faults, I know what I want to find in the other langage, but I just can’t power through data management without my R tools :-(

Today I mentionned @jdlong.cerebralmastication.com ‘s talk at posit conf 23 about abstractions in my own talk and people loved the topic, it’s actually a really cool topic to open any conversation about pitfalls and good practices when coding

Bluesky really is the new #rstats twitter because we have the first base R vs tidyverse flame war 🤣

I’m desperately trying to « overwrite » the behaviour of the sql_translation method from {dbplyr} to add/change translations for our backend (Teradata) for very opinionated cases that would not belong in dbplyr.
So far it’s a pure fail unless I write a new class+method which is way too heavy
