❗ Last week, the government announced that pornography depicting any act of strangulation will be made illegal through the Crime and Policing Bill.

This goes some way in acknowledging the harmful role violent pornography plays in society.

The number of rapes reported to the police has increased again in the last year.

Yet fewer than 3 in 100 rapes recorded by police in 2024 resulted in someone being charged that same year. Let alone convicted.

Survivors deserve more.

Many Rape Crisis centres provide specialist services for people who want to, or are thinking about, reporting to the police. These specialist staff are called advocacy workers or ISVAs.

Like all Rape Crisis workers, an advocate or ISVA will listen to and believe you.

For the first time statistics for child rape cases have been published - 1,646 cases are waiting to go to trial.

This is disastrous for those seeking justice and demonstrates the need for urgent reform.

Our latest report shows the scale of the funding emergency for Rape Crisis centres.

➡️ 78% of centre managers and directors are expecting a reduction or loss of service.

➡️ 28% are losing key staff members due to funding uncertainty.

1 in 3 women who are raped experience it in their own home. Telling women not to walk home by themselves late at night won't stop rape.
