Some who wander are actually lost... We can't all be wizards.

Cute dogs!

Anywhere in the National Forest is dog friendly! I'd recommend trails in and around the Buckhorn Wilderness. Mt Townsend has some stunning views!

According to NWS, the next week will see a snow level between 3-4,000 ft. Check the weather and prep accordingly! Expect to be cold and wet!

Next time you think of nature as cut-throat or a-race-to-the-top, reconsider! We could stand to learn a thing or two from nature's relationships. 4/4

Big Leaf Maples will grow roots up to several feet long into the moss and the thin layer of nutrient rich soil it creates, allowing the tree and it's epiphytes to exchange nutrients and water in a mutualistic symbiotic relationship. 3/4

When visiting the temperate rainforests of the PNW, one can see Big Leaf Maples draped in cascading mosses. The moss from a single maple can weigh more than a ton, and that's still without the water! The trees don't seem to mind though. 2/4

Concluding one of the largest dam removal projects in history, the mighty Elwha once again flows unrestricted and offers more than 75+ miles of river and tributaries. A decade later, we see the salmon returning home and an entire ecosystem on the mend. 3/3

After the installation of two hydroelectric dams, anadromous fish were limited to less than 5 miles of unrestricted river for spawning. This had drastic impacts on the ecological sytsems within the Elwha Watershed and beyond.
