Yes we're becoming an oligarchy, but can we please find a handful of more relatable terms to use, at least on the local level?
I'm leaning toward "the ruling rich" and their "corporate cronies" but even the use of cronies sounds outdated. Suggestions?

We're an hour away from the Lynchburg city council vote for Mayor and Vice. Republicans hold a 6-1 majority but they're fighting one another. The vote will determine if the moderate magas currently in the top two seats remain or if the ultramagas take over. I'm heading to city hall to bear witness.

Exact same thing we see here in LYH. A 30% minority general population yet a 70% minority population in public schools. All in the shadow of an original segregation academy, LCA. Now city council wants to defund public education. We're faced with an education apartheid.

Maybe, maybe not, but there is a step we can take in VA at the local level. Ranked choice voting for local elections is an option if you can get your governing body to vote on it. It's party neutral but can open the door for deeper discussion of issues from parties such as @workingfamilies.org .
