Clancy just got more and more reactionary as he went on. I really did like his early work, too. I swear, though, either every single “conservative” policy maker read his later books or they all read the same source material.

Anti-Iranian too. It just freaks me out a little that so many current events and GOP policies seem to be coming from Tom Clancy books!

If you keep reading through his stuff, you realize his later novels like The Bear and the Dragon and Executive Decisions read like Trump’s entire policy package. “Reciprocal” tariffs (okayed by Congress, though) rapprochement with Russia, war with Iran, conservative Supreme Court, it’s all in there!
