So basically banning immigration from countries based on how likely it is for those immigrants to end up on welfare? So basically no more refugees?

Honestly I don’t think the moderate dems are going to be willing to put government employees through yet another shutdown. I also suspect one of the main reasons they caved in the last shutdown is that they are worried that Trump might be able to pressure Republicans into abolishing the filibuster.

The Biden admin prioritized providing a legal pathway for illegal immigrants to gain citizenship. The Trump admin view seems to be “come here the right way or not at all” and seems to be focused on repealing legal pathways and protections provided by Biden.

Look I’m no fan of ICE but this case seems pretty straightforward. The guy entered illegally through Mexico, claimed fear of torture to try and claim asylum which was debunked in court, and was then deported. If he wants to immigrate here he can go through the same process as everyone else.

While I’m deeply sceptical of anything Trump says, I’m glad he is continuing the Biden admin’s policy of increasing the governments ability to negotiate drug prices as thats one of the biggest reasons drug prices are higher in the US.
