We polished up the RHLI band's trophies last night. Five years after we won this, members of the RHLI band who wanted to compete in a non-military style created the Viscounts Drum & Bugle Corps, which operated as a senior corps until merging with the Jolly Jesters in 1963.

I like to recognize when corps make an effort so I appreciate that Crown is re-evaluating their decision. I hope they're able to meaningfully think though what accessibility and providing equitable opportunities look like. It's a challenge but one we can address as a community!

Charging marching-age people nearly $2000 to do prop crew for the summer and calling it a volunteer opportunity is diabolical work. Frankly, it's exploitative to the community. If you don't want members to do props then have staff do it or make a real production team.

I love going to vintage stores because where else would I find a comically large McDonald's button for a product I had no idea existed? Did anyone try this? Was it good?

Canadians doing drum corps need to stay on top of US immigration news. I haven't seen a huge amount of reporting on this yet but we're subject to registering if we're going to be in the US for more than 30 days now. There aren't a lot of details yet. globalnews.ca/news/1107115...

My heat has been out for nearly 2 weeks. My landlord alleges it will be fixed tomorrow but I'm enjoying how Cornelia lounges in front of the heater in the meantime.
