I never noticed it before, but @npr.org's book reviews have a little blue "looking for this book" button. It pops up with options for WorldCat and @indiebound.bsky.social as well as the usual Amazon.

New books this week by Gish Jen, Philip Pullman and more www.npr.org/2025/10/21/n...

I hope parents won't throw their hands up and accept this. Talking with your kid is essential.
Human reading time reinforces the bonding between child & parent as well as fostering a love of reading. It's free and it doesn't feed the environment-destroying, job-stealing plagiarism machine.

Two things I learned during my storage room (roomlet?) cleaning out project:
1) Mice have been present.
2) The vacuum has stopped working.

I'm stoked that hummingbirds are enjoying our cardinal flowers. I was too slow to get a picture (again) and I'm still happy.

When I was a kid more than 40 years ago, we ate Sugar Smacks, Pop Tarts, Spam, etc. I was 12 when I learned that you can make a cake without a box of cake mix.
You can't get more processed than a Twinkie. It was invented in 1930.

I'm disappointed & angry that this exhibition won't be at the National Portait Gallery. The gallery is meant to depict ALL of us. The existence of some of us is not open to debate.
Sherald has so much integrity. I hate that artists are being put in positions like this.
