I really want to put in the time to learn Godot in the future, particularly when I'm ready to make the jump to 3D, but as someone who is currently a dedicated GameMaker user it makes me very sad seeing how few people are using it. It's a genuinely fantastic engine.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is definitely my top right now but I recently beat Pipistrello and the Cursed Yoyo and feel it might be a sleeper hit. Anyone who likes top-down action-adventure games should play it, very well made and consistently fun start to finish!

Extremely underrated game and I'm so sad it's flown under so many people's radar. Please play it.

It's sad though because creating unique content for a linear game is typically more time consuming than randomly generating content for rogue games. Randomly generated content also typically provides way more hours of gameplay for less effort so it's no surprise to me so many indies are doing it.

My friends and I get in a weekly debate about roguelikes/lites because they adore them but I really dislike them. From a design standpoint I understand why they work but the randomized "endless" gameplay just doesn't entertain me. I vastly prefer handcrafted linear experience, even if they're short.

I will say it IS a textbook so if you're not big on reading it can be a little dense. I also don't think the author gets everything right (there's a chapter about gaming preferences between genders that is, in my opinion, kind of sexist). Other than that though I do highly recommend it!

"The Art of Game Design" by Jesse Schell is a literal masterclass in game design, both for physical mediums like board games and video games as well! After slowly reading through it and taking notes over the past year I feel like the way I think about game design has dramatically improved!

Gotta be honest and say that I'm really proud to finally be showing these off. Shoemonster and I put weeks of effort into these tracks and I really think it shows. Can't wait for players to hear them in-game!
