Agreed, though I’m specifically speaking in the context of young children who often haven’t fully developed the skills to discern fact from fiction. They need more monitoring not just in using ChatGPT, but in accessing the internet more widely as well.

I like this take. AI can be a supplement to learning and creating but it can be misleading or downright wrong. You have to know how to use it and how to critically examine what it tells you.

First of all, he didn’t say that. However, you can learn about literally any field you would like using the resources at your disposal, regardless of prior knowledge. I would hardly call it bullshit. I’d call it being inquisitive and curious.

To those professing AI’s inaccuracy, I don’t think Mark claimed you should believe everything it tells you at face value. But it can condense A LOT of information quickly and succinctly and as a supplement to your learning, you can advance your knowledge at a faster rate.

I’m not sure he said to never ever fact check AI. The point is you learn how to do things with AI a lot faster than scouring through support forums and technical manuals.

I just set up a virtual private server on my home network and an SMB network share thanks to ChatGPT. I have background in a completely unrelated IT field and am not the most networking savvy. I was successful and learned an insane amount in a short period without spending hours on Google.
