Today 110 years ago, in 1914, Austria-Hungary issued an ultimatum to Serbia, demanding Austrians to be allowed to determine who killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand. All but one of the demands listed were accepted, leading to the start of WW I.

Only 61 years ago, the Vatican decided to allow the catholic Mass to be held in languages other than Latin. This marked a great change as for the first time, everyone attending would be able to understand the bible verses read. Only then, official translations of the catholic bible could be made.

In 1969 neural networks were widely believed to be unfit for solvibg complex problems. Only in 1985 were the allegedly fatal problems resolved and neural networks as a learning algorithm had a renaissance.

The average measured temperature of the human body is decreasing.
Some think it was measured differently, some say the thermometer was at fault.

The Democratic Republic of China, aka Taiwan just writes China in their passports. Even though Taiwan can’t be recognized as a country officially by any country with relations to the People’s Republic of China (mainland), just China is accepted by everyone.
