I guess in this case that would be "I've taken exaggerated offense at something the protagonist did which was honestly completely innocuous when viewed by any rational person"?

That is the state of the discourse in 2025.

Good news! Most of the people having takes are actively wishing more people were out them hammering out RPGs like a blind idiot god.

I feel like Linux has passed over a critical hump where it's now actually less trouble to know what Debian is than to keep dealing with Windows 11.

There's already even Yellow Brick Ramble as an example of a long-form telling of this story.

Honestly it's surprising that corporations that love remaking things aren't working harder to bore deeper into the public domain.

Counterpoint: the world is absolutely ready for a take on THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ that plays the Tip-to-Ozma pipeline completely seriously.

why's he (not on the cast page)

I spent a long time thinking Percy dropped out of school because she had an affair with her professor but apparently he's just a blond guy she did not date who is on the cast page, but I guess there's another blond guy who isn't on the cast page but shows up far more

I feel like it's audiobooks. A recording of a single human talking can be compressed pretty darn small but nobody bothers anymore so they're all 600MB these days.

I don't know that it would actually improve the story to have our WoL be super-genre-aware and solve all the problems before they happen, and it's probably best that SE just accepts that instead of having a new excuse every time we allow a villain to Do Things onscreen.

He thinks in Lincoln's time buildings looked like the Lincoln Memorial. I am pretty sure this is not a joke and he literally thinks this.

I feel like game design actually struggles between the two pillars of "let's try and get everybody equally involved in the game" and "having a single person upon whom all significant responsibility falls makes game night way more likely to actually happen."

I once said on Discord that it's wrong to ask for restaurant food to be taken off the bill because you didn't like it and everybody there looked at me like I was a crazy person.

Each level of header should be clearly distinguishable from each other and from your body text.

also don't indent after a heading or a blockquote or list or whatever; only villains do this
September 20, 2025 at 10:58 PM
god, yes

do you also have the thing where having a single appointment during your day means that there's no time left in the entire rest of your day to accomplish anything?

References aren't jokes, and they also aren't memes.

...now I wonder if there's an American equivalent where I could judge a game by its ability to make its grizzled white male protagonist look unique, but I can't actually think of one.

I feel like a decent test of a character designer's ability is how good their Generic Male Protagonist looks.

End the swordfight in one paragraph and then include three pages where the loser tries to figure out what happened, logistically and thematically.
