Trying to make neat stuff since the 70’s and mostly failing. It’s a process.
I know there are far more important things at play in the world but, I’m still haunted by Zendaya’s performance in #Dune2.

They wrote a terrific part but the way she played it connected with me.

Team Chani Sihaya, forever and always. Point me to my death, my leader, and I shall happily attend.

3 BODY PROBLEM: Tries a little too hard to be profound but the production is engaging and the performances are enjoyable.

Eager to see more!

(Though, with Ramin Djawadi’s score backing this sci-if show with philosophical underpinnings, it all makes me long for more Westworld as well.)

Google “Docs” is terrible branding.

It would be as if Kleenex called their core product: Tissues. Or if Ford released the Ford 2024 Car.

“We’re really gonna corner the market share and product recognition with this new product,” the towel manufacturer exclaimed.

“We call it: Towel!”

COME ON!

Just give Billie Eilish and Finneas the Grammy and the Oscar now. There’s no need for the suspense.

Look, no offense to Taylor Swift but there are a whole host of people who think that an admittedly awful terrorist attack means murdering children is totally unavoidable and pretty acceptable.

And some of them even think it is necessary, and not going far enough.

The world is f*cked up.

Ugh. Was not prepared to see Lance Reddick in the Percy Jackson finale.

Sad again.

Oh, boy. Is this … is this how I should start my weekend? With a good cry over The Secret of NIMH?

I want to go the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s live scoring of Superman but I don’t know if I’m good with crying in public over a nearly 50-year-old film about a man who wears underwear on the outside.

Like, I get it’s an amazing privilege to have such a “dilemma” but I’m pressed, nonetheless.

Incoming Oscars thread.

Please stand by…

I really gotta stop visiting Twitter (X) out of morbid curiosity, or whatever.

It’s … uh, it’s just … ew.

I need a shower.

Shame to hear about the Peregrine lunar lander.

Space is hard.

We were so close!
Peregrine mission abandons moon landing attempt after suffering ‘critical’ fuel loss | CNN
Just hours after launching from Florida toward deep space early Monday morning, the first US lunar lander to take off in five decades is in jeopardy.

Is this a random quote at a random time or a Melvillean allegory aimed squarely at the Golden Globes?

You decide!

I admit, I had no inkling of this map (though I have seen similar graphics in the past).

I am appalled at how things are going for our neighbours across the border.

So, Chris Christie’s potential redemption arc has come to an end?

(If both frontrunners — 45 & 46 — were the nominees for POTUS 47, he wouldn’t vote for either.)

End of year overshare:

My mum made me one of her traditional Christmas (rum) cakes. It was tasty and I ate it in less than four days.

Now she’s mad because “That’s not healthy and it was supposed to last!”

Well, then don’t make it so delicious, woman!

This is now Virginia Kull fan account.

She gives a remarkable performance in Disney’s Percy Jackson & The Olympians. I cannot properly express how immediately she radiated warmth, determination, and pathos.

And, in retrospect, she was the best part of The Empty Man.

I extend my sympathies for those who must endure airports for their holiday travel.

Special sympathy for those traveling through our Toronto Pearson International which is still, by some accounts, technically described as: The Absolute Worst.

No, thanks, Instagram / Threads / Meta. I’m fine where I am, post-Twitter.

But, uh, points for trying.

Well, I never thought I’d watch a roomful of grown adults sitting in a playground and licking cookies but … here I am.

“We’re back, everybody. We’re back, we’re back, we’re back!”

It’s as if I finally got the reservation for that new restaurant my favourite chef moved to.

I hope the pan fried sole is just as good as last time!
