My white grandparents had an integrated wedding during Jim Crow. Raised their children on anti-racism, celebrated their grandchildren's queer marriages unapologetically, believed in woman's rights. Idk how so many of their generation became bigoted after living through WWII

I got married this year and we planned to have kids in a couple years. But now I'm getting a birth control implant next week 😢 We even had names picked out 😭

Also my grandparents were dope. Both white, had an integrated wedding during Jim Crow. They never made me feel like the odd one out for being mixed, supported us no matter who we loved, and changed so many peoples lives with the work they did. They keep me going and I miss them 🤍
