Nothing is guaranteed. But I know how my kids are turning out, and I know how others are turning out who have parents that are crap (not present/disengaged when present).

To think parents are incapable of influencing who their children turn out to be is asinine and defeatist.

- I will not shelter them entirely from the evil of the world. They will likely meet it eventually anyway. Better to teach them how to overcome it. In a world ravaged by dragons, raise dragonslayers.

- If only bad people reproduce, we will run out of good people.

- My kids FORCE me to be a better man. When we had them, I was terrified cause I had a couple father figures who were assholes and I despereately did not want to be that.

- The world is in a bad spot, but I also spend a LOT of time online, and the algorithms tend to push bad content & starving me of positivity. Our brains respond far more to bad things than good, and SM expoits that for clicks. As bad as things look, they probably are not quite as bad as that.

Things I try to remember when the world seems too far gone:

- My kids are reflections of myself. There are now additional people in the world who share my values and make it a better place imo by being accepting of others and VERY willing to call out bullshit.

Thats fair! My original response was worded a bit more along the lines of "less likely to cause burnout", but I ran afoul of the character limit and was aiming to keep it to one post- I tend to ramble, and this place is a good exercise in being more concise.

With any creative endeavor, starting out with engagement/money as the objective is setting yourself up for disappointment; even big creatives struggle to win that consistently. Passionate & genuine craftsmanship won't burn you out & is going to attract those who ACTUALLY value your works.

I think they are priming us to look to the environment and world for pieces of the puzzle story wise. Feels like they are getting experimental with their story, kinda like Marathon Infinity.

Kinda bummed to hear its not doing good. I played the first one a TON for a good while, and figured a sequal that was a bit more developed should be a winner of a game.

Probably does not help that the head of the studio was being a bit of a jackass at the time.

I'd like to think she kept it extra dull, just for that guy

Those last 2 bullets doing a LOT of work, and are clear signs of listening happening.

Appreciated.

Can't wait to see how y'all turn this around.

The crux of it was baiting the Dragon to a spot beneath a massive gate, and dropping the gate down to massively damage and cripple it.

Fun asking a group to take on a challenge they cannot win our right, but providing tools they can use to overcome those odds.

Had a group I had planned to tackle a Dragon when they were very under leveled for that fight, but created circumstances where they would control when and where that fight happened, and left tools in the environment to level the playing field.

Had mine last week. Not fun. Just feels like a monument to all the things I've lost and missed out on doing with my life. Another year in workplace hell basically.
